Prentiss Glenwood "Buddy" Scott, Jr.

Prentiss Glenwood “Buddy” Scott, Jr., 85 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026 in the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1940 in Bedford County, a son of the late Prentiss Glenwood Scott, Sr. & Lucille Frances Robertson Scott.

He retired from the Lynchburg Fire Department with twenty-nine years of service and retired as a Battalion Chief. He was a member of Quaker Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Mark G. Scott (Sherry); his daughters, Gina S. Barrick (John), Susan S. Cambeletta (Louis) a sister, Shirley C. Manning as well as nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion of twenty years, Carolyn Webber.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford. Services will be private for family only.
