Lorraine Hairston Patterson

Lorraine Roshella Hairston Patterson, 85, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026. She was born on July 20, 1941, in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Joe Robert Hairston and Nancy Ann Hodge Hairston. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Roosevelt Patterson; son, Alexander K. Patterson; sisters, Jeannie Ellis, Loretta Fuller, Thenia Mae Hairston; and brothers, Herbert K. Hairston, Calvin Hairston, Reverend Joe Robert Hairston, Jr., and Lloyd Douglas Hairston.

Lorraine attended Jerusalem Christian Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a nurse and served the Danville and Martinsville communities for many years. She enjoyed gardening, watching sports, and spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lorraine was a loving woman who always put others before herself.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Patterson; grandchildren, Alexander Patterson, Tierra Hodge (Dominick), and Takobe Hairston; great-grandchildren, Anyia Patterson, Tiffany Patterson, Jream Patterson, Alex Redd, Alexis Hodge, and Kameron Hodge; niece, Vonetta Hairston; and nephew, “Chucky” Ellis.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM, Norris Funeral Services – Martinsville. The visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Tierra will accept visitors at her home between the hours of 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM starting on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
