Ralph Joseph Benge Sr

Mr. Ralph Joseph Benge Sr., age 88, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 5, 1938, in Yadkin County to the late Hugh and Dorothy Collins Benge. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mr. Benge will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deanna York Benge; his children, Ezekiel Benge, Zebadiah Benge, Sandra Wood (Junior), Jesse Benge, Renee Robertson (Tim), Ralph Benge Jr., and Ricky Benge; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Virginia Jirtle (Terry); his brother, Jimmy Benge; his special niece, Laura Butner; and his special great-niece, Kenni Butner. In addition to his parents, Mr. Benge was preceded in death by an infant son, Letcher Hugh Benge; his granddaughter, Tiffany Robertson; and his sister, Katherine Parrish. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church in Lowgap, with the Rev. Robert Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be received or donations may be made to Bible Baptist Church, c/o Rev. Robert Farmer, PO Box 63, Lowgap, NC 27024 in honor of Mr. Benge.
