Acie Dylan Francis
Acie “Dylan” Francis, 29, of Nathalie, VA, entered his heavenly home on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Born on August 4, 1997 in Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of Karen Elizabeth Honaker and the late Acie Lewis Francis. Dylan was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose life, though far too short, left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Dylan worked on the road crew for Adams Construction and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He loved mountain biking, riding four-wheelers, and anything that gave him an excuse to spend time in the woods. He especially enjoyed spending time down at the river with his mom, Karen, making memories that she will forever hold close to her heart. He always dreamed of having a four-wheeler of his own and found happiness in the simple pleasures of being outside and enjoying the beauty of the world around him, which is also why he had such a great love for animals. A true history buff, Dylan enjoyed researching the history and stories of the local towns. His curiosity even extended to his own family history, as he took an interest in tracing his family genealogy and discovering the stories of those who came before him. Those closest to Dylan will forever smile when remembering his love of cereal and chocolate chip cookies, which earned him the affectionate nickname, "Cookie Monster." It was not unusual for his family to find him in the kitchen late at night, concocting his own special cereal creations by adding all sorts of sweets to make an already delicious bowl even better. Dylan was also known for his calm and steady nature. He could always be a voice of reason, rarely allowing anything to upset him or get him worked up. He remained humble, never taking anything for granted, and was always quick to express his appreciation and gratitude for even the smallest acts of kindness. Dylan had a way of lighting up every room he entered. He had a gift for storytelling, recounting events with such animation and expression that he could leave an entire room laughing. Whether sharing a story, spending time with family, or simply being himself, Dylan had a way of making people feel welcome and bringing everyone together. He was outgoing, personable, always full of life, and truly a natural social butterfly who could capture the attention of those around him with his quick wit and unforgettable personality.
Above all, Dylan treasured his family. He shared an especially close and beautiful bond with his mom, Karen, who lovingly considered him her "mini me." The two shared a special connection and a relationship that was truly one of a kind. He was also wonderful with the little ones in his family, who were not just children he loved, but some of his very best friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving mother, Karen Elizabeth Honaker, and his beloved fur-sister, "Gizzy"; one brother, Lucas Francis; one sister, Brittany Francis; his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Eldridge; his paternal grandmother, Sheila Francis; and his grandmother, Peggy Dudley.
He is also survived by three aunts, Laurie Dudley (Tommy), Tiffany Honaker, and Ruby Norman (Dean); one uncle, Andy Almond (Rikki Ann); one great-aunt, Marcia Bryant; his cousins, Tyler Dudley (Ashton) and their children, Mason, Lucas, and Salem; Joshua Dudley (Kayla), Lillie Dudley, Ethan Enoch, Bradyn Tuck, Ashton and Makinley Lester, and Nathan and Travis Francis; special cousins, Lisha Wood, Stephanie Scott (Jimmy), Priscilla Doss, and Cindy Bryant; and special friends, Leanne Sanders, Patricia Hall, April Burrell, Michael Kreuziger, and Millie Enoch; as well as numerous other family members and friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
In addition to his father, Dylan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Acie Alfred Francis; his maternal grandfather, Calvin "Buddy" Honaker; and his grandfather, George Dudley, Sr.

Though the world may feel a little quieter without Dylan's laughter, his stories, and his unmistakable presence, the love he shared and the memories he leaves behind will continue to speak for him. He will forever be remembered as a loving son, a devoted family member, a loyal friend, and a young man who made life a little brighter simply by being in it. Forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
