Luther "Pete" R. Shively

Raymond “Pete” Shively, 76, of Bassett passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Sovah Hospital in Danville.  He was born on September 17, 1944 in Henry Co, to the late George H. Shively and the late Laura Alice Robertson Shively.  In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by a brother, William Earnest “Pig” Shively, Sr.; nephew; William Earnest Shively, Jr., and niece Moleta Spencer.  Pete was a member of the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department since 1963.
 
Pete is survived by a brother Duel Shively; sister and brother – in – law; Louise Spencer and husband John; special niece Sherry Thomas and other niece and nephews Kathy Dodson; Teddie Shively, Anson Shively, Barry Shively, Danny Spencer and Mark Spencer, several great nieces and nephews.
 
Friends may stop by the funeral home Tuesday, February 23 for a floating visitation from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. to view and sign the register book.  A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, February 24 at 2:00p.m. at Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren Church Cemetery with Pastor Steve Tilley officiating.
