Annie Mae Wilson Divens

Annie Mae Wilson Divens, 87, of Cascade, Va., transitioned on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Sovah Health - Danville. She was born in Henry County, Va. June 11, 1933, a daughter of the late Willie and Hattie Cabiness Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Divens.

She was a member of New Design Baptist Church where she served as church mother, missionary and usher ministry. Annie was retired from Hooker Furniture after 30 years of service.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughter, Mildred (Kimble) Hairston, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Linda (Darrell) Turner, of Axton, Va.; three sons, Alvin Divens, of Cascade, Va., the Rev. Thomas (Jamilla) Divens, of Martinsville, Va., and Kenneth (Megan) Divens, of Axton, Va.; one brother, Joe Louis Wilson, of Axton, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of New Design Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Divens as eulogist and the Rev. Tony Dillard, presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home of a daughter (Linda), 4380 Martin Drive, Axton, Va. at other times. All services will be held in accordance with CDC guidelines which includes facial coverings and social distancing.
