Gladys Reed Surratt

Gladys Reed Surratt, 95, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 15, 2021.  She was preceded by her parents, Denton and Annie Dulaney Reed; beloved husband, Harry Surratt, Sr.; daughter, Betty S. Coulthard; and sisters, Margie Moles and Treva Poff.
Gladys' passion in life was her love for her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Surviving are her son, Harry P. Surratt, Jr and wife Janet; grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Patton (John), Harrison Reed Surratt, Elizabeth Scott Holt and husband Michael, and Sarah Layman Surratt; great grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Patton, Caleb Patton, and Ophelia Holt; numerous nieces and nephews including, Brenda and Mauyer Gallimore, Mike Poff, and Leon and Bev Harris.
A special thank you to Juanita Neely for hosting Gladys in her home after rehab, the Carilion Health Care provider team, including, Dr. Randall Rhea, Dr. Jeffery Todd, the staff of Carilion Home Care and Hospice; and the staff at Caring Companions for all of the acts of kindness and compassion provided during Gladys' last days.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Harvey Leedy. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Tuesday April 20, 2021 until service time.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  540-366-0707
