Etheleen Adams Hughes

Etheleen Adams Hughes, 65, of Martinsville Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 13,2021 at Carilion Franklin Memorial, Rocky Mount, Virginia. She was born March 27, 1956 in Camden, New Jersey to the late Obrey Adams and Isabell Royal Keen. She worked for Pulaski Furniture and Southern Finishing for 30 plus years. She was a member of Progressive Prayer Temple since 1992, where she served as the head usher and sang in the choir. Prior to becoming a member of Progressive Prayer Temple in Martinsville, Virginia, she was member of Mt Zion Way of the Cross in Callands, Virginia. She also loved to write poetry for different occasions for her church family. In addition, she loved cooking and eating (eating more than cooking).

In addition to her father, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Hughes, sister, Joyce Carter; brothers, Preston Keen, Johnny Keen, Roy Keen, and Lewis Keen.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her mother, Isabell Royal Keen, two daughters, Lashawnda Hairston and Tikeisha Thomas; one son, Derrick Thomas, four sisters, Bertha Keen, Wanda Briddle, Bobbie Thomas (Booker), and Betty Royal; five brothers, Joseph Adams (Benita), Jason Adams, Ronnie Keen, Morris Keen, and Bernard Keen (Barrie); seven grandchildren, Janeka Thomas, Briana Hairston, Nyasia Watkins, Jamea Thomas, NaKya Chism, Anthony Chism, Jr, Dnydja Thomas; greatgrandchild, Annalise Clarke, and 4 stepchildren, Patricia Lampkin (Ronald), Bernard Hughes (Faye), Anthony Hughes (Courtnee), and Stacy Hughes (Denise).

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 19,2021 at 1:00pm at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens. A floating visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
