Roy Stafford Wills
Roy Stafford Wills, 70, of Village Highway, Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at his residence.
Born in Campbell County, Va., on January 12, 1951, he was a son of the late Ruth Byrd Hart Wills and Lynn Franklin Wills. He was a mechanic and retired from English Construction. Roy served in the Navy during the Vietnam war. He spent time in Alaska after the Navy where he flew bush planes and worked on commercial aircraft.
He loved his children more than anything, teaching them to fish and play ball and just spending time with them. Roy taught himself to play guitar and loved to sing with family and friends. An avid sportsman, he loved fishing and hunting. He was kind and generous and loved to tell stories and make people laugh.
He is survived by two children, Jared Wills of San Diego, Calif. and Jessica Ewell (Joel) of Riverton, Utah; two grandchildren, Kayleigh and Laurelyn; a brother, David Wills of Concord; two sisters, Elaine Steele of Rustburg and Teresa Gipson of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; lifelong friend, Mike Booth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lynn “Sonny” Wills, Jr., Richard “Dickie” Wills, and Mark Wills.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2021, in Jubilee Baptist Church Cemetery.
