Elree Stockton

Elree Stockton, 82, of Martinsville, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Franklin County. He was born April 4, 1939 in Henry County to the late Tommie Joe Stockton and Millie Beatrice Stultz Stockton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys L. Stockton, Mary Ann Gilbert and Eunice S. Hairston; and brother, Thomas Ulysses Stockton. Elree chose to serve God and follow the Lord Jesus Christ with his life. He graduated from G. W. Carver High School in 1958, and had been employed by E. I. DuPont for 30 years. He enjoyed studying God’s word, gardening, working in his yard, hunting and fishing.

Mr. Stockton is survived by his wife, Wilma Stockton; daughter, Lylla Stockton; son, Tony A. Hairston (Sandra); sisters, Massine S. Redd, and Dorthula S. Johnson (Nathan); brothers, Douglas E. Stockton (Airlene), and Richard O. Stockton (Josephine); special cousin, Joseph T. Booker (Carolyn); two granddaughters, Latoya A. Hodge and Jasmine N. Hairston; and four great-grandchildren, Rania Hairston, Renee Hairston, Madelyn Hairston, and Jaylen Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 12:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Kenion Coleman officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Danville Memorial Gardens, Riverside Drive, Danville, Virginia.
