Douglas "Doug" Amos

Douglas “Doug” Amos 86, of Bassett passed away at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 28, 1934 the son of the late Paul Amos and the late Ada Rigney Amos.  He was also preceded in death by brothers; Donald, Richard and Charlie Amos and sisters; Christine Amos and Nancy Bray.
Surviving his loving wife, Shirley Waller Amos; two daughters and sons – in – law, Julia Amos Romero and husband Chris and Jeanie Amos Long and husband Chad; three grandchildren, Jacinda Romero, Stephanie Romero and Trey Long.  Also surviving is a brother and sister – in – law, Alfred and Betty Amos, several nieces and nephews.
There will be a floating visitation on Thursday, August 19 from 1 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 20 from 10:30 a.m. till 11:00a.m. at Jesus Saves Baptist Church at 3801 Fairystone Park Highway, Stuart, Virginia. 24171. Funeral services will follow at 11: 00  a.m. with Rev. Ira Waller, Jr. and Rev. Charles Waller officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakland United Methodit Church in Galax.  Donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 730E Church St, #13, Martinsville, Virginia. 24112.
