Joann Turner Fields

Joann Turner Fields, 75, of Bassett, Virginia passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. She was born March 4, 1946, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Albert and Mollie Ruth Turner. Joann worked for Fieldcrest Mills for over thirty years. She was a member of Evangelistic Tabernacle and a graduate of Fieldale High School. She enjoyed working puzzles, drinking coffee, shopping with her sister Betty and friends, and watching the rain from her porch.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Fields.

She is survived by her daughters, Jackie “Sissy” Fields, Hope Fitzgerald (Josh) and Jane Simpkins (Ben); son, Rob Fields (Cheryl); sisters, Betty L. Moore and Faye Hylton; grandchildren, Sarah Gallimore, Marshall Fields, Brittany Fitzgerald, Matthew Fitzgerald, Kayla Fitzgerald, Brian Simpkins, Nathan Fields and Melanie Simpkins; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 2:00 P. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Deacon Dale Fields officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
