Christie "Chris" Marshall

Christie “Chris” E. Marshall, 89, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away October 10, 2021, in Salem, Virginia. He was born June 11, 1932, in Ararat, Virginia, to the late Jonah Marshall and Ruth Dawson Marshall Ferguson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delia Mae Martin Marshall and brother, Coy Marshall.

Mr. Marshall served in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he received a purple heart. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bassett, loved old hymns and led the singing in churches. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, the beach, playing the guitar and his grandchildren.

Mr. Marshall is survived by his daughters, Sandra Hall (Donnie) and Tonya Stone (Clay); sons, Sammy Marshall and Tim Marshall (Darlene); brother, James Marshall (Nonnie); grandchildren Donna Kennedy, Melanie Williams, Tim Marshall II, Lindsey Stone, Corbin Stone, Gracie Marshall, Jackson Stone, and Ava Claire Stone; and great grandchildren, Caleb Hall Martin, Anaya Hall Martin, Jacob Williams, Noelle Williams, and Luke Williams.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 11 A.M., at Wright Funeral Services with Pastor Chad Janey officiating. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at 2 P.M. at Roselawn Burial Park.
