Jean Bryant McCormick

October 23, 1940 - November 1, 2021

Jean Bryant McCormick, 81, of Bent Creek, passed away in Lynchburg General Hospital on Monday, November 1, 2021. She was the wife of the late Dennis F. McCormick, Sr., for 61 years.

Born on October 23, 1940, in Buckingham, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Matthew Bryant and Lorine Stinson.

She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated D.F. McCormick’s store for many years in the Bent Creek Community. Jean loved spending time with her family and especially shopping with them.

She is survived by her son, Dennis F. McCormick and wife, Renessa of Gladstone; her daughter, Sheri McCormick and husband, B.D. of Gladstone; five brothers, Rev. Thomas Don Bryant and wife, Paula of South Boston, William Bryant and wife, Betty, Buddy Bryant and wife, Alice of Buckingham, Buck Bryant and wife, Linda of Toga, Michael Bryant and wife, Wanda of Shipman; two sisters Linda Kraatz and husband, Freddie of Clarksville, and Evelyn Savage of Buckingham; five grandchildren, Kim McCormick, Kevin McCormick, Dakota McCormick, Jessica Polacios, and Kyle McCormick; three great-grandchildren Gabrian Polacios, Mark McCormick, and Luke McCormick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother William “Pete” Bryant.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Maple Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the church an hour before the service.
