Dorothy Ann Goad

Dorothy Ann Goad (February 17, 1948 – December 16, 2021) went to be with God Thursday morning. “Dot,” as she was affectionately known, was a woman unlike any other who was devout in her love for the Lord as a member of Fairway Baptist Church in Bassett, VA. Her sense of humor, unabashed playfulness, and wellspring of conversation will be sorely missed by her siblings: Shirley Foley (Moir) of Bassett, VA, Evelyn Craig (Clarence) of Patrick Co. VA, Vera Dodson (Jim) of Collinsville, VA, and Larry Young (Nancy) of Mt. Airy, NC; sisters-in-law Mildred Young, Imogene Nester, Opal Alderman, Ivery Dalton, Betty Carter, Ann Nackers, and a myriad of close family and friends.

Despite not being blessed with children of her own, a wealth nieces and nephews had the privilege of her loving guiding influence and will cherish her lasting impact.

In addition to her parents Clarence H. Young and Thelma Young Prater, Dot is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Lee Goad; brothers Donald “Glee” Young, Clarence “C.T.” Young, Mike Mabe, and sisters Geneva Gregory and Lorine Adams.

The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow service at Roselawn Burial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
