Mary Magdaline Baker

December 2, 1938 - December 16, 2021

Can we find a friend so faithful, will all our sorrows to share? Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the lord in prayer. On Thursday, December 16, 2021 the earthly journey of Mary D. Baker, ceased as she transitioned into eternity. Mary D. Baker, the first child born to the late James Howard Dixon and Lillie Josephine Wimbush-Dixon on December 2, 1938. A graduate of Patrick Central High School, Mary moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she married. 
Mary Baker, retired from Strawbridge Department store as a Sales Clerk and served as a Deaconess for Pinn Memorial Baptist Church (Philadelphia, PA). Mary D. Baker relocated back to Virginia, where she visited several local assemblies within the county and attended Iron Belt Christian Church (Stuart, VA). 
Ms. Baker is preceded in death by her husband John Harden Baker; parents James Howard Dixon and Lillie Josephine Wimbush-Dixon; two sisters Thelma Jean Vaughn and Bernice D. Gilbert; surviving two sisters Louise (Louis Niblett) Martinsville, Virginia; Dianne Redd in Stuart, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  
Family, friends, and others who lives Mary, touched are welcomed to stop by the funeral home, without the family present, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM to view and sign the register.  A public graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery,  103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, VA 24112 . Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord: Be of good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart, wait, I say, on the Lord.”
