Frances Mays Bryant

Frances Mays Fields Bryant, 96, of Appomattox, Va., peacefully passed from this life to her eternal reward on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Born in Appomattox County, Va., on January 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Louis G. Mays, Sr. and Lily Rhetta Pendergrass Mays.
She was a member of Vera Worship Center and was a retired seamstress for Appomattox Garment Company.
Frances is survived by a son, Rev. Nelson F. Fields, Jr. and wife, Elsie of Portsmouth, Va.; four stepchildren, Naomi B. Stratton, James R. Bryant, Gene Bryant, and Helen B. Almond; five grandchildren, Stephanie Fields, Nelson Fields, III, Lisa Stout, L. E. Fields, and Monica Williams; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas, Bailey, Nelson IV, and Avery; one great-great-grandchild, Aubrey; a brother, David A. Mays; and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Nelson Franklin Fields, Sr., her second husband, Russell Roy Bryant; a son, Louis Emory Fields; stepchildren, Lois B. Moore, Daniel D. Bryant, Dorothy B. Hackett, and Rev. Oscar E. Bryant; brothers, William E. Mays, Alfred Mays, and L. G. Mays; and sisters, Gladys M. Duty and Tessie M. Haga.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2022, at Vera Worship Center officiated by Rev. Nelson F. Fields Jr. and Landon Watson. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, January 13, at Robinson Funeral Home.
