Robert Harold Wilson

August 31, 1929 - February 8, 2022

Robert Harold Wilson, 92, a former resident of Livingston, AL, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Mr. Wilson had been a resident at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, VA for the last 4 years. He had been a resident of Livingston for 38 years prior to moving to Virginia.
Mr. Wilson was part of the Corps of Engineers for the US Army during the Korean War. He served from April, 1953 to April, 1961. He was also member of the Livingston Masonic Lodge for many years.  Mr. Wilson was an active member of Livingston First Baptist Church, joining in 1980. He sang in the choir, was a Deacon and taught a men’s Sunday School class. He made knives, was an avid golfer and enjoyed time spent with his family.
Mr. Wilson moved to Livingston in 1980 to help establish Prystup Packaging Products. He was one of the four founding stock holders and employees. He used his knowledge and experience as the Plant Engineer for 35 years.
Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his parents, Willie D and Flossie Cole Wilson, his brother, William W. Wilson and his 3 sisters, Lottie W. Adams (James O.), Jo W. Atkinson (Ray) and Margaret W. Parker (Charles). Robert’s beloved wife of 62 years, Wanda Prystup Wilson and their first daughter, Dorothy Cole Wilson, also preceded him.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his daughters Janice Wilson Whittemore (Robert) of Dunkirk, NY; Jane Wilson Bradley (Craig) of Roanoke, VA; and Juley Wilson Rutherford (Todd) of Livingston, AL; grandson Jeramey W. Bradley of Bozeman, MT; Kathryn Whittemore Mason (Ashley) of Evington, VA; Stacey N. Vaux (Nick) of Seend, Wiltshire, United Kingdom; and B. Cole Rutherford of Livingston, AL; great grandchildren Kandis Mason, Xander Mason, Vega Vaux, Persephone Mason, and Matrim Vaux; 5 nieces and 1 nephew.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Wilson will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Both the 2:00 PM visitation and the 3:00 PM service will be held at Livingston First Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Fletcher officiating.  Honorary Pallbearers are Craig Bradley, Robert Whittemore, Todd Rutherford, Jeramey Bradley, Cole Rutherford, Bud Castleberry, Paul Sparkman, Stephen Bracknell, James McGahey, Lee Bracknell, James Emory, and Rev. Jerry Hall. 
The family would also like to the honor Ossie McCorkle, Laura Hines, Mamie Long and the staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center of Roanoke, VA for the care they provided for Mr. Wilson.
