Ellen Aritta Warden Richardson

Ellen Warden Richardson, 81, of Hardy, Va., passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, August 26, 2022. She was reunited with the love of her life and husband, Billy Richardson. Born to the late Homer A. Warden and Inia Turman Warden in Montgomery County, Virginia. In addition to her husband and parents, she was Preceded in death by her infant siblings, Wanda, Goldie, Sylvia Jean, and Alvie; brothers, Lloyd Warden, David Warden, Albert Warden, and George Warden; sister, Christine Wood; and her son, Edward “Bean” Atkinson.

Ellen adored her family and loved spending time with them. She was a nurturer by heart and took pride in helping others. If you were having a bad day or in one of life’s many trials, she would often express one of her favorite quotes, “It is going to be okay, no matter what.” Ellen was strong in her faith and always found time daily to pray. She also loved to sing, especially if it was Conway Twitty.

Left to cherish in her memory includes her children, Elizabeth Brogan and the late Bill Brogan, Susan Thurlow (Roger), William “Tokey” Richardson and the late Anna Richardson, Cindy Hostutler (Rick), and Pamela Mielnicki (Lawrence). She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 29’th, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 30’th, at 2 pm, with Pastor Tony Grey officiating.
