E. Thomas "Tom" Nix

E. Thomas “Tom” Nix, age 83 of Rocky Mount, Virginia, died on Friday, October 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Franklin Nix and Mae Lollis Nix; sister, Betty June Johnson; and his wife of 54 years, Frances Patterson Nix. He leaves behind his son, Patrick T. Nix, daughter-in-law Julie McBride Nix; granddaughters, Zoe and Ella Nix; brother, Carl Nix (Cricket); sister-in-law, Evelyn Dowdy; niece, Terri James (Dan); and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a Spanish teacher at Franklin County High School for over 30 years. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served as a Vestry member and Warden. He was also member of the Bald Knob Artists. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud educator, and wonderful host. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Rocky Mount, on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Noon, with Father David Taylor and Father John Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until Noon in the Parrish Hall prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center or Trinity Episcopal Church Outreach Program.
