Elijah Caleb Steele

Elijah Caleb Steele, age 43 of Troutville passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 9, 2022.

Elijah was born March 31, 1979 in Richmond, Indiana and lived in Troutville for the past nine years. He was the son of Leon Steele and Kelly Callahan. Elijah was an amazing father, loved music and played guitar. He was an artist, had a green thumb, and recently received his Associates Degree in Internet Technology.

Elijah was preceded in death by his brother, Cody, and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Carie A. Ruley Steele; sons: Austin Huffman and Noah Smelser both of Troutville; daughter, Avanelle Steele of Troutville; his parents of Cambridge, Indiana; brothers: Jonas Steele, Jordan Steele, Tyler Steele, and Garret Steele all of Cambridge, Indiana, Forrest Moistener of Colorado; sisters: Brooke Stevens of Tennessee, and Mikayla Steele of Cambridge, Indiana; grandmother, Wilma Callahan of Cambridge, Indiana; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Donna Ruley of Troutville; sister-in-law, Gwen (Kris) Greene of Hollins; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend, Matt Frick.

A celebration of Elijah’s life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 22 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville, with Ben Peyton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
