Joyce Henderson

Joyce Henderson, age 86 of Moneta, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Joyce was born in Pulaski County, Virginia June 27, 1936 and lived in Moneta the past 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Ervin and Allie Tickle Meredith. Joyce enjoyed playing solitaire, working crossword puzzles, loved breakfast and her dog Rocky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Henderson; sons: Charles Otis Dodd, III and Jeffrey Dodd; and her daughter, Rita Gail Dodd. Joyce is survived by her sons: Donny (Donna) Scruggs of Roanoke, Curtis Allen Hart of Tennessee, and Joel (Debbie) Carter of Moneta; daughter, Donna Carter of Buchanan; grandchildren: Joey (Jen) Carter, Billy Joe (Shana) Carter, Charlie (Amber) Carter, Carrie (Tommy) Miller, Donnie Jr. (Chelsea) Scruggs, Joel Brooks, and Cody (Beth) Carter; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Helen) Hardy of Danville; and sister, Sylvia Harris of Crozet, Virginia.

A graveside service will be Sunday, October 16 at Mount Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4918 Stony Fork Road Wytheville. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville.
