Ruth Stelley Jones

Ruth Stelley Jones, age 84, of Chatham, VA passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Mrs. Jones was born June 24, 1938, in Rhode Island to the late Orlo Kenyon Stelley and the late Bertha Danielson Stelley.

Ruth was a faithful member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. She worked for Dr. Hugh Willis as a receptionist and nurse until his office closed. Ruth also worked at Southern Virginia Mental Institute in Danville, VA for ten years. She was very involved in her community having been a member of Chatham Garden Club, Chatham Book Club, PEO, Danville Wednesday Club, and she served on the Pittsylvania County Public Library Board of Directors, where she was Chairperson for a number of years.

She is survived by her husband, Langhorne Jones, Jr., who she married in 1960; son, Geoffrey Jones (Shelley) of Roaring Gap, NC; daughter, Elizabeth J. Mullis of Chatham; and grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Kimberly Jones, and Emily Mullis.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Chatham Burial Park. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Chatham, VA.
