John Rodgers Griggs

John Rodgers “Pete” Griggs, 85 of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away on January 12, 2023 at the Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, Rocky Mount, Virginia. He was born on September 4, 1937 in North Carolina to the late Arch Holland and Maybud Hankins Griggs. He had worked as a supervisor for over 40 years with Fieldcrest Mills and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a loyal helper to his neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Elva “Jackie” Caudle Griggs; daughter, Kelly Robertson (Dan); sons, Barry Griggs (Angie), Darren Griggs and Danny Griggs (Jan); also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in honor of Pete can be made to the Saint Jude Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept.142, Memphis, TN 38105.

His service will be private.
