Virginia "Gracie" Nichols Wright

Virginia “Gracie” Nichols Wright, 94, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Mulberry Creek in Martinsville. She was born March 18, 1928 in Patrick County to the late Samuel A. Nichols and Maudie Hopkins Nichols. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Oscar Wright; son, Earnest Michael Wright; sisters, Maggie Harris, Lillie Cox, Ora Hancock, Viola Smith, Addie Stroop, Daisy Mitchell, Bertha Lankford, Minnie Wright, Docie Marie Nichols, and Hattie Elmer Nichols; and brothers, Euel Nichols and Samuel Cody Nichols.

Gracie had been employed for 46 years by Pannill Knitting Company and then Sara Lee Knitting Company. She graduated from Ridgeway High School and attended Southside Baptist Church. She loved to cook, especially cakes, and enjoyed working in her garden.

She is survived by her son, Wesley Wayne Wright; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral will be Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Kelly Ratcliff officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Wright Family Cemetery, 674 Cox Road, Ridgeway, Virginia.
