Doris Aleen Odell

Doris Aleen Odell, 91, formally of Martinsville, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Radford Health & Rehab Center. She was born on June 30, 1931, to the late Cordie C. Grimes and Clara Hunter Grimes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Odell, Sr.; son, Troy Odell; three brothers, Charles Grimes, Frank Grimes, and Jackson Grimes; two sisters, Peggy Martin, and Mary Shupe.

She worked for Tultex for 45 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was known best for excellent cooking and loved making birthday cakes for everyone’s birthday. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by three children, Clarence Odell, Jr., Kathy O. Lemons (Richard), Gary D. Odell (Leslie); five grandchildren, Ryan Odell, Seth Odell, Troy Odell, Shannon Odell, and Ricky Lemons; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Couley (Frank); and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2023, at 1:00PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Shake Smith and Assistant Pastor Austin Peyton, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be held at Roselawn Burial Park.
