Sam Edd Deal

Sam Edd Deal, Sr., 79, of Patrick Springs, VA, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born on February 9, 1944, to the late Harrison George Deal and Berta Florence Spencer Deal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two daughters, Debra Gunter, and Melissa Deal; four sisters, Bertha Mize, Rosie Craig, Hattie Belle Witt, and Vera Gilley; six brothers, Jessie Deal, Robert Deal, David Deal, Joe Deal, Daniel Deal, and Henry Deal.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bonnie Deal; two sons, Sam Deal, Jr. (Jerrie), Matthew Deal (Melissa); three daughters, Ann Huff (Mike), Sarah McBride (Ricky), Sharan Bowman; a son-in-law, Phillip Gunter; a sister, Hazel Gilley; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; several great -great -grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be held at Deal Family Cemetery, Patrick Springs, Virginia immediately following the service.
