Gabrillia "Gaye" Manns Gilbert

God, in His wonderful wisdom, closed the book of life on Gabrillia “Gaye” Manns Gilbert on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Gaye was the fifth child born to Harry Manns and Katherine Stanley Manns on October 4, 1950, by her grandmother Tell Calloway (midwife). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Manns, Jimmy Ross, and Pete Manns; two sisters, Elizabeth Manns and Theressa Ann Manns; paternal grandparents, Harry Manns and Gallie Manns; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Gabrillia Stanley; parents-in-law, Thomas and Mae Gilbert; and brother-in-law, Herman Mitchell.

Gaye worked at Bassett Chair Company for over 30 years and at Harmony Hall for over 20 years. She also worked for Henry County Public Schools part time on the handicap bus; and as a caregiver for others until her own health declined.

Gaye attended the Oak Level School, which was the school for black students at the time, and she graduated from Carver High School. Gaye was a sweet person with a heart of gold, and her everlasting smile will always be remembered.

She attended Fresh Start Ministry under the leadership of Dr. Pastor Lewis Waller. While serving there she was a dedicated usher board leader, known as the head usher in charge with a smile.

Gaye leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Thomas “Bud” Gilbert; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Gilbert; son, Orlando Gilbert; adopted daughter, Ashley Sauls; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Dianne Mitchell; brother, Garnett Manns (Virginia); sister-in-law, Lucy Manns; brother-in- law, Earnest Manns; devoted friend, William Mayo, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Dr Lewis Waller, eulogist. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. The burial will immediately follow at the Stanley Family Cemetery.
