Lonnie Eugene Stone
God in His wonderful wisdom closed the book of life on Lonnie Eugene Stone, on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. He was born on November 28, 1936, to the late Dewey Hobson Stone and Mrytle Sue Joyce Stone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Doris Jefferson Stone; second wife of 10 years, Nancy Keffer Stone; sister, Mildred Rodgers; three brothers, Marvin L. Stone, J. Randolph Stone, and D. Wayne Stone.
Lonnie leaves many cherished memories to his children, Vickie Lynn Morley (Donald), Terry E. Stone; two sisters, Jean Maxey (J.E) and Myra Barbour (Butch); two brothers, Larry Stone, David Stone (Deborah); four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Lonnie worked at Dupont as a security guard until his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
He attended Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon until his health declined. Lonnie was known as the “Miracle Man” by many as he shared his testimony of how God Healed him completely from pancreatic cancer. He loved serving others, whether it was volunteering with the American Cancer Society or talking to others to encourage them to continue to fight and never give up. Besides serving his community, he served his country by serving in the U.S Army.
Before Lonnie was elevated to heaven, he made one last request to his children. He wanted all donations made in his memory to go to the Pleasant View Baptist Church Elevator Fund. He wanted to remove any barriers for anyone to know his God and be elevated to heaven where he is.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Pleasant View Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Anderson officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
