Betty Lou Hill Dalton

Betty Lou Hill Dalton, 89, of Martinsville, VA peacefully slipped out of this world and into her heavenly home on June 9, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Galax, VA on January 1, 1934, she was the second child born to the late Fred and Lina Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Curtis Ray Dalton; infant daughter, Ann Denise Dalton; and sister, Mildred Melton, as well as grandparents, Robert Franklin Lawson, Sarah Catherine Lawson, Major Hill and Nancie Eddes Hill.

She retired from Martinsville’s DuPont Nylon Plant and was a member of many organizations in the area. She was a member of Chatham Heights United Methodist Church where she served as Secretary and Treasurer. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and attended Patrick Henry Community College.

Survivors include her daughter, Dana Dalton Long and her husband Alan D. Long of Daleville, VA; granddaughter, Lauren Dalton Long of Columbus, OH; grandson, Andrew Ryan Long of Johnson City, TN; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Tim Gearhart officiating. Entombment will be at Roselawn Burial Park Mausoleum following the service.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chatham Heights United Methodist Church, 1817 Old Chatham Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112.
