Andrew Lewis Turner

Andrew Lewis Turner, 96, of Bassett, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, peacefully at Stanleytown Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 12, 1927, to the late Walter R. Turner and Lillie M. Mullins Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Belva A. Riddle Turner, sisters, Alice Martin, Marie Worley, and Bettie Snead.

He was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending. He worked in the lumber business as a logger, and then he worked for Dupont for 27 years until his retirement.

Andrew is survived by his daughter, Deborah Thomas (Gary); one son, Randall Turner (Susan); one granddaughter, Kristi Carter (Barry); four grandsons: Andrew Thomas, Corey Turner (Andrea), Ian Turner (Sarah) and Ry Turner; four great-grandsons: Zack Turner, Liam Turner, Braedyn Carter and Colten Carter; one sister, Martha Sue Meeks and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Pastor Joe Glass officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park immediately following the service. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Bassett Funeral Service one hour prior to the service.
