George E. Mitchell

George E. Mitchell, Jr., 96, of Collinsville, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Sovah Health of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born in Henry County on July 16, 1926, to the late George E. Mitchell, Sr. and the late Armain Merriman Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn S. Mitchell and a sister, Annie Mae Lackey.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, was a member of Collinsville Covenant Brethren Church and retired from J. D. Bassett Furniture Company.

He is survived by two sons, Bobby J. Mitchell and wife Raphia and Rodney D. Mitchell and wife Maria, both of Collinsville; one daughter, Debbie Nuzum and husband, Bobby of Collinsville; two grandchildren, Jason Mitchell and wife Heather of Moseley, Virginia and Jenny Park and husband, Mike of Dunedin, Florida; two step-grandchildren, Corey Zaborowski of Chicago, Illinois and Nicole Zaborowski of Saint Charles, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Isabella Park, Gracie Park, Kaylie Mitchell, Anna Park, Sarah Mitchell, Michael Park and Austin Mitchell.

All services will be private.
