Deanna S. Clark

Deanna S. Clark, age 75, of Roanoke passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 following a brief illness.

Deanna was born March 24, 1948 in Clifton Forge and was the daughter of the late Carl H. and Ireta G. Totten Clark and lived in the Roanoke Valley for 50 years.

Deanna was a teacher’s aide for more than 40 years and retired this past spring from Fallon Park Elementary School following due to poor health. She was a member of Parkway (Wesleyan) Church on the Mountain and the Encore Sunday School class. Deanna enjoyed crocheting, old movies, and was the beloved Mee Maw of her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed her family.

In addition to her parents, Deanna was preceded in death by brothers: Stuart Clark and Eddie Clark. She is survived by her son, John (Kelly) Barnett of Vinton; daughter, Melissa (Mark) Ryan of Eagle Rock; grandchildren: Ashley (Spencer) Best, Heather (Greg) Whiting, Bryan Barnett, and Brant Barnett; and great-granddaughter, Emma Best; one brother, Eric (Pam) Clark of Rock Hill, South Carolina; nephew, Steven Clark; and niece, Kristen Clark.

A celebration of Deanna’s life will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 21 at Parkway Church on the Mountain, 3645 Orange Avenue NE Roanoke with Pastor Mike Lauridsen officiating. Burial will be at Alleghany Memorial Park in Covington. The family will receive friends
2-5 PM Sunday at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville.
