Thomas David Lomax
Thomas David Lomax, also known as Tommy, of Rocky Mount, age 77, left this earth for his heavenly home on August 23, 2023, with his family by his side, after a brief battle with cancer. Thomas was an avid baseball fan, and his favorite team was the Baltimore Orioles. He loved hot cars, watching sports, had a taste for sweet treats, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, who knew him as Papa. He enjoyed learning about history, telling stories, and he thrived on a lively discussion.
Thomas retired from Cardinal Logistics, the transportation division of PlyGem (formerly known as M&W Window), in 2021 after 31 years of service. He previously worked at Martin Processing in Bassett, where he also graduated from high school. Thomas was a truck driver at heart during most of his life.
Family members who preceded Thomas in death were his father, William Carl Lomax, and mother, Mary Josephine Collins. Thomas was raised by beloved grandparents, Joseph Calhoun (JC) Collins and Elizabeth Ann Shreeve Collins.
Those left to cherish the memories with Thomas are Sandra Turman, his dearest love for almost 18 years, Thomas’s son Brian Lomax (Eva), daughter Stacy Lomax, and son David Lomax, his sister Barbara Ann Martin, Sandra’s son Richie Turman (Lindsey) and daughter Tracie Cooper (Tracey). Grandchildren left to treasure their memories with Thomas are Nick Dunne, Jeremiah Lomax, Spencer Cooper, Brooke Lomax, Colin Turman, Lena Turman, and great grandchild, Dante Lomax. Thomas made many friends over the years and spoke frequently of long-time friends, Billy, and Clarence.
Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center of Rocky Mount is handling arrangements. According to Thomas’s wishes, there will be no public service. His family will celebrate Thomas’s life privately.
