Thomas Martin

Thomas Martin “Tinker”, 96 years old, passed away August 18, 2023 in West Palm Beach, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel in 2009; and his son, Thomas Martin, Jr. in 2016.

He lived and raised his family in Salem, Virginia from 1957 to 1973.  With encouragement from his sister, Mary, he moved to Florida to escape the cold winters.

Tinker is also survived by his sister, Mary Arch (101 years old); and daughter, Peggy; granddaughter, Cheryl Lynn; grandson, Christopher Thomas; and great-granddaughter, Violet Noelle Martin, all living in Florida. 

He has been a father figure to many nieces, nephews and cousins; too numerous to name.

The family wants to thank those who have expressed sympathy and love to the remaining family.

Tinker loved life, people, gardening, and fishing.  He will be missed but never forgotten.

The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 11 to 1 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home Salem. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home Salem.  Burial will take place following chapel service in Smith-Owen Private Cemetery on their property.
