Russell Harold Mayes, 86, of Spout Spring passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Marie Scott Mayes.

Born on March 14, 1937, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Russell Albany Mayes and Hazel Henry Mayes. He was a retired route salesman for Standard Coffee. Russell served his country as a member of the United States Army.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Russell “Rusty” Mayes and wife, Beth of Spout Spring, and Tracy Almond and husband, Wyatt of Appomattox; six grandchildren, Amanda Howard (Eddie), Austin Short (Christy), Chad Cantrell (Serena), Russell Aaron Mayes (Virginia), Toby Almond, and Ashlee Almond; nine great-grandchildren, Brittany, Morgan, Molly, Cameryn, Jordyn, Londyn, Ashlynn, Russell Josiah, and Piercyn; and one great-great-granddaughter, Ava; two sisters, Jackie M. Harlow of West Virginia, and Carole M. LaPrad of North Carolina; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Reedy Spring Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
