Ralph Aaron Young
Ralph Aaron Young, age 90, entered his eternal heavenly home on December 29, 2023. He was born the second of four children and eldest son to Ralph and Duel Young on August 19, 1933 in the Henry area of Franklin County, Virginia. Aaron, as he preferred to be called, continued to live in the Henry community throughout his life and was loved by all that knew him for his kind heart, gentle soul, cheery disposition, and quick wit. Aaron loved to talk to people and never met a stranger. He loved those close to him deeply and made sure you knew it. Known for his giving nature, he helped many people in his community and never expected anything in return. Aaron was also a dutiful and faithful servant of Christ and would gladly share his testimony to anyone who would listen. In addition to being such a wonderful person, Aaron also was a hard worker who spent most of his adult life as a truck driver for National Homes, then Warren Trucking, and then well past retirement age he drove for Carter Bank.
In addition to his parents, Aaron was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Bruce Young, his dear sister, Pauline Elmore, and his companion of 25 years, Mary Frances Prillaman.
Survived to cherish his memory are his brother, Curtis Young; his nephews–Ronnie Young, Gary Young, Ray Young, and Jeff Young; his nieces–Linda Elmore, Karen Tripp, and Kim Bernard; and numerous great nephews and great nieces. Aaron is also survived by his very special friend, Rebecca Shively, who provided such tender loving care to him and whom Aaron loved spending time with; his close neighbors and caregivers, Matt and Lisa Hundley, whom Aaron loved like a son and daughter; and the family of Mary Frances Prillaman (Linda, Andrew, Jamie, Joan, Jennifer, Marshall, and Chris) who embraced Aaron and loved him like one of their own.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Flora Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Henry Community Center.
