Bill Monroe Tosh

Bill Monroe Tosh, 75, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024. He was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on May 15, 1948, to the late Virginia Osborne Tosh and the late James Monroe Tosh. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Mrs. Katherine Leonard Tosh.

Bill was of the Christian faith. He worked for 32 years at Dan River Mills, Inc. before his retirement. After retirement, he kept busy mowing grass for people in the local community. You could see Bill pulling his lawnmower behind his Ranger all around the Mt Hermon area. Bill possessed a strong work ethic, always providing for his family. Bill was loyal to his friends and family and often put other’s needs before his own. He enjoyed listening to classic country music such as George Jones and Merle Haggard.

Bill is survived by a daughter; Tracy Turner (David) of Blairs, VA; two sons; Billy Tosh of Danville, VA, and William Tosh (Melanie) of Chatham, VA; four sisters; Hazel Faye Gray, Pauline Leonard, Christine Haskins, and Colleen Hardy; seven grandchildren; Brittany, Lyndsey, Jacob, Rebecca, Harley, Brooklyn, and Faith; six great grandchildren; Cayden, Gabe, Aide, Gracelyn, Kimber, and Rylan.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was predeceased by a sister; Linda Gay Thompson and a brother; Jimmie Rogers Tosh.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00am at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. The service will be officiated by Pastor Terry St. John. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00am-11:00am also at Norris Mt. Hermon chapel. The family will also receive friends on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 11:00am until 6:00pm, and January 8, 2024, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Tracy Turner.
