Cecile Marie Young

Cecile Marie Young, 83, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at her residence. She was born on April 3, 1940, to the late Garnett Campbell and Bertha Virginia Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hildred Quinn and Maxey Walker, and one brother, James “Buddy” Campbell.

Cecile retired from Stanley Furniture after many years in the administration office. She was a member of Prillaman Baptist Church in Henry, Virginia. Cecile enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an avid lover of the beach and lake. She enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals, quarter auctions, and shopping. Her dog, Chester, had a special place in her heart.

Cecile is survived by her spouse, Roy “R.L.” Lynwood Young; one son, Jeff Young (Donna); two grandchildren, Amber Bowles and Hailey Young; eight grandchildren, Katie, Riley, Emberlee, Kinley, Addy, Courtlynne, Parker, and Colton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Pastor Mike Magnani. A burial will take place immediately after the service at Henry Memorial Park.
