Michael Lane Sledd
Michael Lane Sledd, 59, of Salem, VA, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Mike grew up in Salem, VA, and graduated from Salem High School. Mike was laid back, fun-spirited, and loved the ocean. He was a huge fan of college football, especially Alabama (Roll Tide!). He enjoyed traveling with his children to Disney World, visiting Atlantic coast beaches, and cruising, and he was always looking forward to the next big adventure. He truly loved his children, and his pride in their accomplishments was evident. As a young person, Mike made a profession of Christian faith and was active in his church and youth group. He never left behind the teachings of Christ. Mike is now sailing on shores we cannot see, reunited with his parents and watching over us. He is preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Ann Cannaday and Maurice Lee Sledd; and infant sister, Vickie Leigh Sledd.
Mike is survived by his children, Caleb Michael Sledd (Sarah) of Roanoke, VA, and Anna Marie Sledd of Kissimmee, FL; brother, Maurice “Maury” Lee Sledd, Jr. (Nelda) of Arvada, CO; sisters, Mauricia Lynne Smith (Steve) of Salem, VA, Michelle Lynnette Pagans (Steve) of Salem, VA, and Melissa Lee-Ann Sledd of Vinton, VA; nephew, Patrick Lee Pagans (Jamie); nieces, Shelley Elissa Winterer (Jimmy), Cassie Lynne Smith, and Sarah-Anne Pagans Parker (Nate); as well as many other family members and friends.
