Nancy Carolyn Burnett Ketchum
Nancy Carolyn Burnett Ketchum, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 16, 2024. She was born on July 18, 1941 in Danville, VA to the late Ollie May Smith Burnett and the late Moses Burnett. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 1/2 years, Mr. Harold Junior Ketchum.
Nancy was a faithful member of Lighthouse Bible Church where she was a prayer warrior, encourager and served in the Ladies Beacons Group. She was a homemaker by heart who dearly loved her family and friends. She babysat many children in her early years, and remained a part of their lives throughout their adulthood. Her home was known as the neighborhood diner and playground to many, and she selflessly continued to give to anyone in need. Nancy was given the name “Mayor of Edgewood” for her concern and outreach to make a better community.
Nancy is survived by two daughters, Susan Ketchum and Jennifer Ketchum (son-in-love Mike Davis) all of Danville, VA, one sister, Sandra Gray (Larry) of Danville, VA, nephews, Johnnie Faw Jr., Brandon Gray, Dustin Gray, C.E. Cassady, David Cassady, and Junior Gauldin, Nieces, Amy Ketchum Gillispie, Carrie Hutchens, Karen Gauldin, Priscilla Womack, Numerous Great Nieces and Nephews as well as many special cousins, her lifelong friend, Carolyn Campbell and her entire Lighthouse Church Family. She also leaves behind, her grand fur babies, BB & Maggie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was predeceased by a sister; Betty Watson.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00am at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Lee Rigsby Jr., Pastor Scott Randlett and Pastor Todd Hartley officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00am also at Norris West End Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Lighthouse Bible Church Building Fund, 133 Woodberry Drive, Danville, VA 24540, or Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.
