Marie L. Craig

Marie L. Craig, 76, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, peacefully at her residence. She was born on January 7, 1948, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Willie Thomas Lemons, Sr., and Irene Carter Lemons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy L. Craig; one brother, James Lemons; and one granddaughter, Amanda M. Woods.

Marie enjoyed shopping, sewing, and crocheting, but most of all spending time with family and friends and watching her grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Susan Southern; two sons, Robert D. Wood and Richard D. Craig; grandchildren: Beth Meade, Hannah Carmichael, Devin Wood, Skyler Craig, Christian Robertson, Tyler Craig and Caden Craig; great-grandchildren: Haven, Josiah, Jeremiah, Levi, Colton, Lillian, Grayson, and Raelynn; two brothers, Willie T. Lemons, Jr., and Bobby Lemons; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Bishop Dwayne Pruitt officiating. A burial will follow immediately after the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
