Diane Mahony Fitzgerald

Diane Mahony FitzGerald, 64, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Bette Mahony; sister, Deborah Mahony; and brother, Peter Mahony, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Lindsay Shelton (Jonathan) and Colleen FitzGerald; siblings, Eileen O’Toole (Thomas), Megan Murray (Christopher), and Brian Mahony (Rebecca); and numerous other family members.

Diane was an huge animal lover, who frequently volunteered at an animal shelter. She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society. She worked as a Paralegal for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for many years. She was a proud mother who loved her family above all.

The family will have a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 2:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to her favorite animal shelter, League for Animal Protection, PO Box 561, 603 Poor Farm Road, Fincastle, VA 24090.
