Lettie Mitchell Bowman

Lettie Mitchell Bowman, age 92, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Sovah Health in Danville, VA. Mrs. Bowman was born February 29, 1932, in Pittsylvania County to the late Annie Townes Mitchell and the late Richard Mitchell. She was married to the late James Bowman, who predeceased her in 1998.

She was a member of Three Angels Message Seventh Day Adventist Church, Keen St., Danville. She retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company in Danville. She will always be remembered as a kindhearted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Loretta Bowman Jones (Harvey) and Annette Bowman Duppins, her son, Lyndell Bowman (Louisa), grandchildren, Lamont Cook, Montez Cook, Dexter Jones, Bryan Hartridge, Branden Hartridge, Detra Bowman, Ismail Bowman, Israel Bowman, Gabriel Bowman, and Aziel Bowman, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Dora Clark, Mabel Fitzgerald, Barbara Marshall, and Lillian Jackson and brothers, Albert Mitchell, and Willie Mitchell.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Three Angels Message Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Frederick Betts officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
