Claude Allen Haynes

Claude Allen Haynes Sr., 85 of Sutherlin, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 while a patient at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. He was born to the late Claude Wesley Haynes and the late Ruby Stanley Haynes on December 29, 1938, in Ruffin, NC. He was married to the late Martha Ann Strader Haynes. In addition to his parents and wife, Allen was also predeceased by a sister, Marie Adkins.

Allen was a life long farmer in the Sutherlin Community who loved the outdoors and all the good things that came with living the country life. He worked hard providing for his family raising tobacco, grains, and produce. His life was filled with many hobbies and amazing friends. He spent many years racing stock cars, and attending field trials. He loved riding horses, shooting skeets, and all things hunting, especially deer, quail and doves.

Allen is survived by a large family that loved him and will miss his presence, but will cherish their memories of him. Survivors include four children, Lisa Haynes Carter (Nick), Teresa Haynes Romero, Claude Allen Haynes, Jr. and Stephen Randall Haynes, as well as six grandchildren, Kristie Trammell, Jerry Trammel, Jr. (Laura Beth), Amber Lumpkin (Mark), Marcus Romero, Wesley Haynes, and Blake Haynes. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; Michael Douglas, David Cole Douglas, Peyton Trammell, Brantley Trammell, Kaitlyn Lumpkin, Zachary Lumpkin, Joshua Romero, and Kaleb Romero.

In keeping with his wishes, a visitation by friends and family will take place on Tuesday Evening, May 14, 2024 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540. The family will be having a Celebration of Life Service at the Haynes Farm in Sutherlin, VA on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 5:00pm.
