Gregory Thomas Puckett

January 12, 1957 - May 16, 2024

Gregory “Greg” Thomas Puckett, 67, of Salem passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dodge Puckett, Jr. and Mary Hylton Puckett, and his beloved dog, Buster. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Charlotte E. Puckett, his daughter and granddaughter, Courtney and Brielle Exum, sister Denise Puckett Sexton (Brian), and niece, Jamie Sexton.

Greg was a 1975 graduate of Glenvar High School in Salem. He retired from his most recent Salem businesses, West Salem Tactical and Salem Custom Cabinets. He taught water aerobics classes at Green Ridge Recreation Center and Lancerlot Sports Complex. He was the creator of Greg’s Beer Reviews on YouTube where he opened each review with, “Let’s see what's in the fridge today.” He enjoyed tasting craft beers and giving his honest, informative, and humorous opinions about the beers. He started crafting beer in his home and then moved on to paid reviews of craft beers and IPAs sent to him. Greg also enjoyed preparing delicious meals and sharing his meals and tips for successful cooking with his friends on social media. He enjoyed life to the fullest and rarely met a stranger. Greg’s laughter and sparkling blue eyes would light up the room. He will be missed by his fans, friends, and students.

Greg was also a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed many motorcycle adventures and always looked forward to his next ride with his MC friends. He traveled all over the United States including one 6-week trip across the country. During Greg’s lengthy hospital stay, his closest Salem friends honored him with a motorcycle ride-by which also included a beer taste and review from his hospital bed. The family would like to thank Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for honoring Greg and his friends and allowing this special afternoon on the patio. The family would also like to thank the 9th-floor Neuro Trauma ICU and 10th-floor Palliative Care Unit and the wonderful nurses, doctors, and other professionals who lovingly cared for Greg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to your favorite animal shelter or local SPCA.
