Joyce Smith Lawson

Joyce Smith Lawson, 86, of Christiansburg went home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with her husband Thursday May 30, 2024. She was preceded by her husband, Hersel L. Lawson, Sr.; grandson, Carl David Rutherford, II; sister, Mary Lee Ramey; and brother, Charles "Buddy" Smith.

Joyce was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her children, Hersel Lawson (Kathy), Anthony Lawson (Carol), Tamara Lawson, BreAnna Martin (Matt); grandchildren, PhaBeanna Lawson and Ethan Lawson; brother, Jimmy Smith (Glenna); sisters, Linda Coltrane and Janett Munley; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Southwestern Virginia Wildlife Rescue.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
