Gathleen Mays Blankenship

Gathleen Mays Blankenship, 84, of Covington, VA, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on July 11, 2024.
Born to Henry and Malvena Reynolds Mays, Gathleen lived a life filled with love and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Blankenship, and an infant son, James Henry Reid Blankenship. Also preceded in death by siblings: Ronald Mays, William “Bill” Mays, Larry Mays, and Imogene Mays Turner.
Gathleen is survived by her daughter, Nova Leigh Blankenship Wright (William) of Covington, VA and son, Richard Lewis Blankenship II of Harrisonburg, VA. She was a cherished grandmother to Walter Lewis Wright, Seth Allen Wright (Anna), Isaac Chandler Wright, and Aysha Rain Wright. Gathleen was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, River Holland Wright, and Peter Mathias Wright.
Gathleen is also survived by her siblings Doris Mays Curtis, Garry Mays, and Debra Mays Nicely (Dennis). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss her dearly.
Gathleen shared a treasured friendship with Sarah Loving Kimberlin.
Gathleen was a longtime member of Lone Star Advent Christian Church. A woman of faith and family, Gathleen's memory will be treasured by all who knew her. Her kindness, strength, and love will continue to live on in those she leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held at Lone Star Advent Christian Church on July 19 at 2pm. A private burial will be held.
