Lois Carolyn Guthrie

Lois Carolyn Guthrie “Pooh Bear”, 77, of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thomas Guthrie.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Elyard and husband Russell; grandchildren, Lilly “Gooseball”, West, and Eli; special niece, Neilly Carolyn Newman(David); great nephews, Ayrton and Will Snyder; special great granddaughter, Oreo the Hamster.

A graduate of Northside High School and Community Hospital of the Roanoke Valley Nursing School, she 

was a dedicated RN for 43 years and spent her life caring for others. Her warmth and kindness will be

greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Angels of Assisi.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2:00pm at Simpson Funeral

Home (Peters Creek). A Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
