Dorothy Burley Johnson
Dorothy Burley Johnson, 93, of Lynchburg went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Scott Nelson Burley and Rosie Duff Burley.Born October 1, 1930 Dorothy was cherished for her loving nature and her dedication as a mother. In all she did, Dorothy demonstrated her deep love for the Lord. Dorothy was deeply committed to her church and remained actively involved whenever possible. In her later years, she discovered a passion for travel, especially enjoying bus trips across the country. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother, and her loss will be deeply felt.In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clyde Cornelius Johnson, Sr.; her siblings Johnnie Burley, Mildred B. Mayberry, Robert Burley, Scott N. Burley, Jr., Nellie B. Bailey, Estelle B. Creasy; and her grandchildren Terry Johnson and Amber Waller.Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory include her children Clyde (Tony) Johnson, Jr. and his wife Vickie, Patsy Waller and her husband Lee; her sister Shirley B. Wheeler; her grandchildren Chad Waller and his wife Kathy, Christopher Waller and his wife Crystal, Adam Waller and his wife Lee Ann, Tina Painter and her husband Brandon, Melissa Pulliam and her husband Brian; and her great-grandchildren Krista Waller, Nathan Waller and his wife Allison, Kelsey Campbell, Kristen Waller, Will Waller, Carly Waller, Peter Waller, Eileen Waller, Andrew Waller, Jude Waller, Mason Painter, Addie Painter, Austin Pulliam and Tiffany PulliamA celebration of Dorothy’s life service will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 11am at Whitten Timberlake Chapel officiated by Pastor Lynn Marstin and Pastor Fred Williams. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. A graveside interment to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the American Heart Association or Tyreanna Church.The family will receive friends at the home of Patsy and Lee Waller in the coming days.
